Care tips
Care and maintenance

Every Pas de Rouge is an expression of research, craftmanship and technique. Our shoes deserve to be treated with great care in order to last over a long time always looking beautiful and sharp, and you can do it by following few basic rules:

  1. After wearing your Pas de Rouge, let the shoes air out to help soak up the extra humidity of your feet. Also, help your shoes keep their original shape using shoe trees made of wood or just roll some paper and put it inside every shoe when not wearing them. Remember to clean the shoes without removing the shoe tree: this will help you in cleaning them more throughly
  2. For suede shoes and shoes with suede inserts, you should use only rubber bristles brushes to remove any dirt or dust. Remember to brush you suede shoes only when they are completely dry and always brush the nap in the same direction.
If you want to protect them from rain or getting stained, as soon as you buy them you can spray a suede protector (please test it in a small area first). Spray it regularly to keep the protection constant.
If you get your suede shoes stained or marked with serious staind, we advise to take them to your cobbler but for milder marks you can try to erase them with a suede cleaning block/suede eraser which will crumble as you rub the stain.
  3. Treat the leather with good quality leather care products only. Use creams with high wax content to nourish the leather and slow down the aging process. Use the cream in small quantity on just cleaned shoes
  4. The most appropriate cream is the one that is closest to the colour of the upper, up to one tone lighter: never use a darker coloured cream. Apply the cream after carefully dusting the upper, using a clean and soft cloth. You can then let it dry for a few minutes and polish each shoe using a brush with soft bristles.
  5. It is best to never use direct heat to dry your shoes, as the leather can dry out and crack. Store your shoes out of direct light to avoid the color fading away, and use the original dustbags to transport your shoes when travelling.
  6. Please remember that you should avoid immerse leather/suede shoes or machine wash them.
